Broken front coil spring

While rotating the tires today, I noticed my driver's side front coil spring was broke on the last coil. It's broke right in half, but sort of at an angle, not a clean straight through break, but broke all the way through nonetheless. I don't know how it happened but I don't go off road so I can only assume a pot hole at some point?

I need new tires soon so I guess I'll get new shocks at the same time and get that spring replaced. 2004 F150 Lariat 4x4. Bummer...was hoping to not spend so much on a single visit (tires, shocks, spring). I'd guess around $1,000 or a little more for all (tires were previously quoted for 756).

I dropped at the dealer last week because my 04 F150 Super Crew 5.4L was steering hard.

They told me ball joints were bad, and my front Passenger side spring was "fractured".

I do not offroad, heck my truck only has 47000 miles.

I'll see if I can get a picture sometime soon. I'll have to jack it up a little so the weight is off of it. You'd be able to see it really well then. I was surprised to see it. I've got a little over 100k miles on it now.
