99% sure that I am trading

Tonight I went to the dealership to see about a 2002 F350 XLT, supercab, dually 4X4, 7.3L/auto with 70,000 1 owner miles on it. The truck was bought brand new at this dealer and also serviced here. It has only been into the dealership 1 time for anything other than maintenance items, and that was when a squirrel chewed through part of a wiring harness under the hood. Otherwise the truck has never had any mechanical issues or problems.

Without even jewing with the salesman, who is also the owner of the dealership, I got the price that I was looking for. We are going to trade even up, so basically just going to swap trucks! And this is for my truck back to bone stock, other than the AS kit and truxedo cover, I am going to leave them on. Everything else will be posted up in the classifieds once I have the F350.

The only thing that could make the deal not happen is if my wife doesn't like the truck. We are going to look at it on either Thursday or Saturday at the current owners house. He will still have the truck for another 3 weeks until his 2010 F150 lariat comes in.

So hopefully I will have a oil burner sitting in the garage before Thanksgiving!!

7.3 is a good motor, for sure. I'd have a Oasis report run on the vin #, just to double check it though. If you like the truck and the deal is the one you want, good for you. Go for it.

wow, quite a deal man.

I think the Dealership is coming out ontop...but those old 7.3 are very hard to kill. Where I grew up it was nothing to see 300,000 + miles on them.

throw up some pictures when you get a chance

Sounds like a good deal. I'd check into the CPS, CC and any other recalls (read: check the OASIS report, read it carefully and post it on a powerstroke site if you don't understand parts of it).........but that's just me.

If I can look at the truck tomorrow, I was planning on getting the vin and running an oasis on it. But considering I know the owner, not very well but still know him. Also he is very good friends with the dad of one of my good buddies, and I have asked couple people that know him and the truck and no one knows of anything that has ever been wrong with the truck, any accidents or other issues.

Like I said earlier, I was shocked that the dealer was willing to just trade trucks. Especially since virtually all the 7.3L's that I have found with less than 100,000 miles have been going for $20,000+. The only one that I have found that was less than 20K was a 02 F350 XLT SC, DRW 4X4 with 53000 miles that my father bought 2-3 months ago for $18000, we thought that he got a good deal. A local used car dealer has been looking for a 7.3L for me, when I called and told him what I had found he said that he would give me $19,000 for it. Tempting, but no.

Once we do make the deal I am ordering a PHP Phoenix, gauges, John Woods valve body, doing a DIY intake, and then going to save for a SS 4" turbo back exhaust system.

Not yet. The current owners 2010 F150 has not come in to the dealership yet, still another 2-3 weeks out. I also have to take a better look at the F350 too. The current owner brought it up to our jobsite on Wednesday this week so I could take a look at it, but it was raining so damn hard that I basically only did a run around the truck. It looks good, but I want to take a closer look at it to see if it has any rust starting to form. Tonight I talked with a buddy who owns a body shop, and either Thursday or Friday he is going with me to take look at the truck to see if he can find any rust, and if he does then give me a price to fix it.

Hopefully it all works out!

Hpefully man...sounds like a sweet deal to me! What kind of mods are you thinkin about if any? (Those 22.5 dually rims a pretty sweet!) Or you might not even be thinkin about anything since you havent got the truck yet? I just love 250's/350's maybe one day i can move up to one!

Once we do make the deal I am ordering a PHP Phoenix (stock, 25hp heavy tow, 65hp light tow, 80hp dd/economy, 100hp performance, 1200 rpm high idle) gauges, John Woods valve body, doing a DIY intake, and then going to save for a SS 4" turbo back exhaust system.

I am also trying to find some wheels for it, so far the only thing that I can find that I like are Moto Metal 953's in 16" and there is also a set of 19.5's that I really like.

First on the list to be ordered will be the performance stuff, then having a gooseneck hitch installed, after that will be having the seats redone in gray leather, then the wheels and tires.

So now I just have to hope that the truck doesn't have alot of rust that has to be repaired. At this point the only 2 things that could be a deal breaker are rust and if my daughters car seat doesn't fit very good in the ext cab.

The only problem with 22.5's is that then I will have to/want to lift the truck. And I can't/don't want to do that to this truck. The F350 will be used for towing a gooseneck and hauling a 4100lb slide in truck camper, so lifting it wont work into the use of the truck very well. Thats the reason that if I do go with a bigger wheel&tire setup than stock it will only be 19.5's, they are only 33-34's so I won't need any lift to run them plus they are still big enough to look impressive!
