Lights

I'm looking for 4 fog lights and want 2 smaller ones on the outside and 2 larger ones in the middle of a light bar. I'd like the outter 2 to be able to act as driving lights and the middle 2 to be almost spot lights. I'm thinking two 5" lights on the outside and two 6" or 7" lights on the inside. Any opinions on that setup? I have no clue which lights to go with, but I'd like to have the outter 2 tied in to my light controls that came stock and the other 2 to be on a switch. Which lights should I look at?

So many options, I think the best place to start is determining your budget. There are several good manufactures out there but their product range is vast and extends beyond decisions other than size. Hella, PIAA, KC, etc.

I agree with mdhawkin, how much are you willing to spend?

I like my PIAA 525s Driving/Fog lights, but they're not cheap. What type of light bar will you be mounting them on?

PIAA has several different lights that would fit your project. One combo that might be close to what you are looking for would be:
PIAA 580 series (pencil beam 5 degrees, xtreme white, 6 11/16 tall) - $290.00
PIAA 510 series (driving beam 30 degrees, xtreme white, 3 15/15 tall) - 219.00

This puts you a couple bucks over budget and the two lights have slightly different covers. In order to get the size difference you want between the two it makes staying under budget a little hard to do.

I did not do price checking when I put the above together for you. I am sure you can find them cheaper, I believe those are retail prices for the kits.

Fogs get the piaa 520 crystal ion fogs and mount them low as possible. Look at my sig they are the bottom lights. They work fantastic in fog with a really good cut off.

yeah your prices are pretty much right for most places. i neat trick i've found is to type in whatever you are looking for on google shopping then set the search to prices lowest to highest and you can find some really good deals.

Ryan I would get a pair of PIAA 520's switched independently from a set of KC's. KC Daylighter series is time tested and tough as nails and I love mine. The PIAA's are really though also. Here's a photo of back when i had a standard brush guard on. The key is to get the fogs as low to the ground as possible because you want them to illuminate the road under the fog and not the fog itself. That's function, if you just want something for show then I think Pro Comp makes some good looking offroad lights. Prices are pretty good here at 4wheelparts.com

IMO 8" lights tend to be a bit too much even when I considered them on my truck. Unless it's a true offroad baja truck I'd skip the 8's.
