So, new owner.
So, new owner.
Ok, not really a "new" owner, I got my F-150 back in april, I bought it for me, for my B-day.
Betty, yeah I named my truck, has 20K miles on it when I bought it, and was spotless. I picked the truck up for $14,500, minus my cars trade in of $1,800.
So, any way, XLT 5.4, Sc 6.5 bed, Pretty much factory all around.
When I first got it, it was sharp, and still is, but the hood was getting a harsh feel to it, and I took a yesterday and did the works to the outside, insted of my normal sunday washing.
I started with a wash, then a clay bar, then a fresh wax. After I went and done my wheel wells up, Cleaned and ploished all my chrome by hand and finished with the windows and trim.
Now I have some pics, and I am going to like them to here, and maybe put a few up, BUT, I didnt take any after I went to all that trouble cleaning it yesterday, 4 hours of work, I was a little tired.
So, with the outside pretty much spotless, I just need to do some inside spot cleaning, but I keep floor mats in the truck and a blanket on the back seat, and 90% of the time I am riding solo, but lately I have had a passanger.
But before the pics, I have a few questions.
First up, my truck makes a droning sound at around 50-60Mph at around 2,100 to 2,400. and its really annoying.
Secondly, I run Motorcraft 5-20, full syn, today I went over my 3,000 Mile marker, and will go over about 150 miles before I get to change the oil, will that hurt it?
Thrid, for some reason, I keep putting preimum in it, 92/03 depeing on where I get gas, but most of the time time, its the same place, and the same pump, I am not really helping my self am I?
I guess I obsess alot about my truck, full syn oil, every 3K, wash every sunday and 93 every fill lol.
Final question, How long can I expect my truck to go before major service or it falls apart?
I got a time stamp from the Forza 3 Message area, under my GT, Drunk Rednecks.
Here are the pictures, but I dont have any from yesterday sorry.
Here is the link to them all.

isnt it nice looking at your truck right when u clay bar it and wax it? No it will not hurt your truck at all going the extra 150, infact i think your supposed to go 5000 miles with full synthetic. i think. No the whole gas thing, the thing is our trucks are factory tuned for 87. So you are not gonna get any power out of running 93. however is it better for your engine? i honestly do not know.
i clay bar mine once a year, wax 6-8 times a year. wash about 50 times lol.
what brand did you use? i used Turtle Wax Ice.
truck looks great man.

Ford recommends 5-20 Motorcraft synthetic blend and I have great results with it. The manual also says change it every 5000 miles. Justy be sure to use a Motorcraft or Purolator filter.
If you have the stock tune, it is tuned for 87 octane and anything more is a waste. You can get a custom tume that give a lot more power and better shifting that takes advantage of higher octane. The key is to run what it is tuned for.

I was told that you can go 5K with synthetic, but I figured 3k wont hurt it, or at least I hope it wont, I am just trying to take the best care of it I can.
Here is a list of things I bought when I got my truck and that I used, I still have the sales slip in the truck, along with every oil change sales slip, and every part/ item I bought for my truck.
First wash, at local quarter wash, dryed by hand.
List of things I used/own for cleaning.
Meguiar's
Car wash, not used yet.
Tech wax 2.0 Used sunday to clean truck.
Clay bar kit, used sunday, Verry happy with it.
Tire shine/black used sunday, out now.
Chrome rim cleaner, used in those pics, but was out on sudnay.
Qiuck Detailer.
Armor all.
Normal and cleaning wipes.
Eagle 1
Chrome polish, used sunday to clean all rims/chrome by hand, did a great job.
Tutrle wax ( not the wax the name brand )
Carpet cleaner.
Spray-a-way or spray way
Glass cleaner, Tint safe.
And the cloths I bought to dry it.
All bought from Advance Auto, localy.
Yeah, it was all shiny, and I went over it a few times to make sure I got all the wax off, and I didnt miss any spots.
I felt good about it, even if I was tired after I got done, not that the truck was all that dirty when I started, but I enjoyed cleaning it, like a passion or some thing.
I will most likely keep running Full syn oil, and chaning it every 3K unless there is some down side, and because its only a few $ between a fill up of 87 compared to 93 Ill just keep using that.
And I kinda want that tuner and a nice CAI and exuast, then I really have a reason to use 93.
Lol I am so picky, that I wont get gas a a station that is or has been filled up/ topped off in the past 4-5 hours, but i know when my fav station gets refilled, so I plan around that.
My dad used to drive a tanker, said that when they fill a station or top it off it stirs all the stuff in the tank, might just be me, but i would rather be safe than sorry.

I use the full synthetic Motorcraft with a motorcraft oil filter, but could changing oil at 3k insted of 5k really hurt it?
Yeah, I want that tuner, it would be nice but i just dont have the extra cash for it right now, and like I said, its only about $2-3 more for 93 than it is for regular.
Any ideas on the drone? I sounds like its the intake, but i cant be sure, only happens at 50-60 and only at 2,100-2,400 rpm, runs fine, still stock intake, just has a noise in it.
I did not know that, my manual is still wrapped in the plastic.

Again, you are just wasting money to run higher octane and there is the theory that you could be leaving carbon deposits because of it. Not sure on that one. It will run great on 87.
Is it possible that it has an aftermarket intake? Those are prone to drone at different rpms, but have not heard of a stock intake doing so.

Changing every 3000 does not hurt at all. I change mine about every 3800 to 4000 because it is pretty dusty around here.

I am almost 100% sure its a facotry set up, still takes factory filters, its got that black plastic tube, runs to the fender, and has a flexy part in it.
I am wondering if I some how damaged it cleaning the engine bay, all I did was leave the truck running nad hit it right quick with a hose to knock the heavy dirt off it it, but it does have a new filter in it, wish it was a K&N but its not, its a fram I think.
I really like the stock air box, easy to change the filter.
Nope just checked my sales slip, its a purlatior ( spelling )
