Do I have 3.55 or 3.73 gear?

I have a 2006 F150 Supercrew 5.4 4X4 I bought about 3 weeks ago and have no info about the truck. Is there any way to tell what type gearing I have?

Thanks

Mark

First off, WELCOME!!

Look on the drivers side door pillar, there is a sticker that has all the info about your truck in code. It can tell you the GVWR, interior color, exterior color, axle ratios, and much more. Look at the axle code and report back with it and someone will tell you what ratio your truck has. It may be just 2 numbers like 17 for example or it could be 1 number and 1 letter like B6 which mean the truck has a limited slip. If it is B6 then is has a LS rear and 3.73 gears, I know this because thats what my truck has.

Try this:

http://services.forddirect.fordvehic...icker.pdf?vin=YOUR VIN

Use that website to get the original window sticker for your truck. Then you will know everything including all factory installed options.

There is a thread in our Articles and How To section called How to Decode Your VIN. It contains the following.

F-150:
19 – 3.55 Non-LS
18 – 3.08 Non-LS
H9 – 3.55 LS
B6 – 3.73 LS
