Low oil presure won't start

When shopping with the wife today I attemted to start my truck but it failed and I had a "low oil presure" display . On my second attempt it started and the oil gauge was past the midway section. Oil level was also good . I run synthetic oil .

The truck runs fine and shows no sign of trouble but this worries me . I got home today and did a oil and filter change.

Should I just see what happens next or have it checked out ?

My truck is a 06 5.4 Lariet SCREW 4X4 .

The low oil pressure indication is normal when you experience another problem and the truck dies. When the truck stalls, the oil pressure sending unit is also shut off, so while the truck is in the on position, the unit shuts off and mimics a low pressure.

You should run the codes to see what's indicated, for its something that has been logged.

theres a SLIGHT chance that the truck was actually having low oil pressure...

I get the low oil pressure message maybe once every 20 starts for a split second. If you arent looking for it you wont be able to see it. Never had a problem though.

The engine not starting caused the low oil pressure.

You need to find out why it does not start like it used to. It's possible your fuel pump is going but not gone yet. If that is the case, it will get worse. Does it turn over slow like your battery or starter are weak? When did you last change your air filter, fuel filter, or replace your plugs?

The truck has 31,000 miles on it . I had just changed the fuelfilter last weekend and the air filter was also changed to a K&N. This did occur about 4000 miles ago but I dismissed it when it didn't occur again .

It turns over as it should but dose'nt fire that is when I see that low oil presure display , I then just back off on the key and retry and it starts.

everyone is right. anytime the key is on and the engine is not running you will see a low oil pressure warning.

I dont see where anyone said that? Are you implying that anytime you turn the key forward without cranking the truck the low oil pressure message should appear?

We are implying that anytime you turn the key forward and the engine is not running the low oil pressure message should appear. The only way to clear the light is to run the engine which creates oil pressure.

actually..... we aren't implying, we are explicitly telling you that if the truck was running and stops/stalls/shuts off without turning the key backward, the oil pressure indicator will illuminate.
