tailgate cap swap for more MPG???
I was wondering I see the other truck brands with the aero tailgate caps, and the new Fords have it built into the tailgate...I was wondering if a cap off of another brand would fit, and help in the gaining of MPG... I have a cover on the bed now so it could only help I would think..... the GM one looks to match fairly well. I haven't taken my cap off to see how it mounts, does anyone have pics, or has anyone else thought of or tried to do this.
thanks in advance!

Why don't you get the roush rear spoiler, it fits our trucks as long as you don't have a hard shell cover.

Putting a spoiler on a truck is about as worthless as putting a freezer in your igloo... the only exception is the NASCAR truck series...
Reason i ask
The reason I ask I saw a smoke stream test over the new 09-10 body style and the turbulance behind the tail seems to be pretty good, and it has the lip built into the gate for a reason I would guess. Besides the extra gear in the tranny is this part of the reason it's getting better mileage... not looking to get 25 MPG.. but anything helps.... I'm looking at driving my truck to FL from VA to go to Disney, and any increase in MPG can't hurt. I LOVE my truck and I keep tinkering with it.... I don't want to spent the $$ on the Roush, when I could get a stocker from somewhere, get the same result, and if I nick /scrape it while using the truck as a truck I wont be pissed about messin up a 200.00 part.
I also wonder if this change in airflow would help while towing my 24 ft Bayliner....once again any help dosen't hurt!

I think most of us just like to work on our trucks....and if we can change the look of it abit and gain a few mpgs with a simple mod why not. The question is if the gain in mpg (if any) worth the cost of the part.

I look at those and think yuck.
Didnt know they actually did something, all mine did on my 01 chevy was feel like it gave you a handle when closing the tail gate.
