If someone did this it would be worthy of a sticky for sure. This is an issue many people ought to be looking at.

The so called inhibitor is a teflon coating ford puts on them and ford advises to clean with soap and water such as dawn dish soap or the like..I'm not making this up I actually wasted a week in a ford sponsored training class.BUT..both the instructors at the time(this was 4 yrs ago)and every tech I'v ever talked including myself will tell you..If its carboned up its not doing the job it was meant to do and cleaning it will damage NOTHING..worst case scenario..it will get dirty quicker with the coating washed off by a carb clearner spray and at that point you'll haver to clean it a bit more often...no big deal.
As far as the actual MAF sensor...us an electrical contact cleaner spray..find it at your local auto parts store or at radio shack.Anything harsher could damage the sensor.

I was refering to the Crstfr's comment and stating that the sensor is more delicate than the throttle body and to be a bit more carefull. The throttle body really cant be harmed..but the sensor can.If you damage the wire your S.O.L.

For the MAF, we have a how to in our How To section. Cleaning the MAF really does make them run better.
