CB Mount?

Hey everyone, I have an off-road trip coming up in a few weeks, and I'm finally getting around to trying to get this dang cb installed. Basically I want it somewhere kind of hidden, but not extremely hard to get too, and somewhere I can mount it causing minimal damage.

I have been thinking of mounting it between one of my bucket seats and the console. The passenger side seems to have more room than the driver side does. Does anyone have theirs mounted here?

Here is the driver seat/console.

Passenger seat/console.

I had though of possibly making some bracket off a bolt of the back seat then just making the cb move when the seat does. Not really ideal, but it would make it minimal damage. Here is the bolt i'm talking about.

Any suggestions? What other places would be good spots to mount the cb out of the way.

Thanks,
Alex

The front of the console has a cubby hole that's a good spot

I use that spot to hold some other stuff, plus the fact I would have to drill a hole to run the cable through so I'm not sure I would like that.

I mounted mine in a double din kit right under my head unit..

...and then did a pocket plate mount for my antenna.

...and then mounted my 100w powerhorn under the front next to my horn and painted it black to look like it's apart of the truck. Oh what fun I have with that.

I've seen some mounted there but just be forewarned that you may need an external speaker if you cram it in there. Since the speaker will likely be up against either the seat or the plastic and muffle the sound.

I really like my spot but it wouldn't fit your criteria.

I have my CB mounted between the drivers seat and the center console. I like it better on the drivers side rather than the passengers side due to the ease of reach for the mic. I don't have to use a external speaker...mines plenty load. I like where its at due to the fact that its easy to access but in kind of out of the way.

I've had mine here since day one. Well day one if you consider I bought the truck in 05. Oh and I would recommend running a new power wire and not tapping into any existing wiring. Ground loop is a PITA.

I like that, how did you go about mounting it?

Well its already a tight fit between the seat and the center console. However I wanted mine really secure so I just bought some double sided velcro (sp?) from the hardware store and stuck two pieces onto the CB and the console and stuck it on. The CB doesnt move an inch and is very secure.
cheap and easy

The only problem for me with that is my parents some time drive my truck, and my mom is shorter, and still doesn't utilized the pedals moving so she is always moving my seat. I can see something bad happening then like the cb scraping down my console because it was not securely mounted or something.

made the mount for it out of strap metal at lowes and drilled a hole through the metal brace behind the knee pannel.

antenna is a firestik with a stake hole mount

I think if I ever mount it permanently I am going to make a fiberglass or abs plastic mount on top of the center dash panel where the rubber grip tray is. I will remote mount my faceplate there and then actually mount the body of the cb behind the dash with an external speaker under the drivers seat.

That is if I ever get around to it.
