Cruise control stopped working

In my 07 XLT my cruise control stopped working completely is there a fuse to check or would it be something else? I looked in the owners manual and couldnt figure out what fuse it would even be.

The cruise is actually integrated with the computer, IIRC. There is not separate motor, because of the electronic throttle body.

The only thing I can possibly think of is the button is bad, loose connection, or there is a fault with the system.

Is the wrench light on? How about a CEL?

How did you shut your seatbelt light off? Do you mean the warning chime? Like pulling the belt out like 8 times then turning the truck on and off -- basically that whacked out thing that the manual tells you to do?

Dont know if this helps. Mines not workng sometimes I tap the brakes and it will work. Leads me to the brake switch. Not sure as I have had this truck for 8 days but is the cruise control shut off by the pressure switch past the master cylinder like my 97 was?The burn your truck to the ground recall switch. If so Im thinking this could be the problem. Brake lights are not on but the computer thinks the brakes are on.

Just a real stupid question... just making sure all the bases are covered... did you check the ebrake? Try pressing down on it and then releasing it. But I have to warn ya... if you drive an automatic, and you don't use the ebrake often, it might not release. Most people that drive automatics forget that there is an ebrake, and it might never get used in the lifetime of the vehicle.

Now.. come to think of it... maybe someone inadvertently pressed on it and it never released.. and it is now stuck?

I'm just thinking simple here...

I didnt catch that in your post. if your Instument cluster Brake light is on your ebrake is on or you have a hydraulic imbalance in your system. Proportioning valve or kinked braked line. If its on all the time I would guess ebrake. Does the ebrake make your cruise not work? I would think so but I have never tried to set the cruise while parked. What triggers the ebrake light in case it "thinks" it is engaged.

I don't know either... I never had a need to set my parking brake while in cruise.

Also, anything to do with brake fluid and proportioning is controlled by the ABS system... so if it is low on fluid or a kink in the line, or even unbalanced lines, the ABS light would be on.

I do know that the cruise relies on the brake system to be functioning correctly, because if you ever go down a hill with cruise on, it will try to autobrake for you. At least in mine, I can go down a hill with cruise on and it will automatically use the engine and brakes to keep the truck at the set speed. Then again... I don't know if that applies to automatic trucks or not -- because mine is the 5 speed manual transmission.
