Trading my truck?@!?

I went by the local for stealership and there sat a 2006 Smokestone lariat just like mine for sale. It is stickered at 27,999 and has 55K miles on it. I have everything it has exept the center shift and heated seats with 46K on mine. Some extra exterior mods as well, which i know are of no value when trading. So whats the chances of gong in and trading my truck off for close to what they are asking as a selling price of that truck? I mean it makes sense to me, but just thought id see what you guys think?

To be honest someone would have to be crazy to pay $28k for a 2006 with 55,000 miles on it. I paid under $30k for a brand new '09.

Thats very true. Im not saying a person is going to buy it. Im talking if a dealer is selling it for that why shouldnt i get trade in for the same or close to. Its not whether or not you or myself will pay that for it, its going to be coming from the dealer.

It certainly doesn't hurt to go in and try to work a deal with them. I would say that if you can trade for $20k you would be doing good. More than that and you had better jump on it if you are serious about trading.

In May I traded my '04 Lariat Supercab 4X4 with 72,000 miles in immaculate condition for $13,500. The dealership put it out on the lot with a price of $19k on it. They sold it within a few weeks but I sure hope someone didn't pay the asking price for it.

If they are asking 28K for it they didn't pay no where near that. Don't expect them to offer you any more than maybe 18K. Stealerships are in business to lowball you on your trade and sell for as much as they can get. There is no way they are going to give you anywhere near 28K for yours, even with less miles.

I don't think they'll give you anything near what they are asking for the truck.

I bought my 2006 Lariat in August of 2008(over a year ago) with 40,312 miles on it. Has 20" Wheels, Heated Captains Seats, Shift on the floor, Skid, all Leather and more... for $18,995. I'd say what they are asking is way high! I should say however mine is a SCab, not a SCrew.

i doubt you could get them to trade for anything less than 5 grand out of your pocket. it just depends on how much that center shifter and heated seats are worth to ya. i think it would be cheaper to add that stuff to your truck and sell what you take out.

Thinking the exact same thing. What makes sense to us goes against everything a dealership stands for($$) They will try to make money off of you and whoever buys your truck. The ol double dip.

Id say start looking at the salvage yards might run accross one or there is always ebay. Keep your lower miles and you will be money ahead than dealership making it worth their while$. After all this aint unicef.<--Joe Dirt

Seems like the prices are lower in Texas than up here. Not by much but noticable.

If you want I have a couple places here that pull and store when they come accross newer vehicles. I would be more than happy to help a brother out to get what you want.

IMO i would just upgrade the few things on the truck you currently own, who knows what that other truck has been through. at least you know the maintenance etc are up to date on your truck!

So you are going to go from a 2006 F150 to a 2006 F150?

You will lose a lot of money and regret it. Either run your truck until it is dead or buy an 2010 model

Guys, he's not trading his '06 for their '06. He's simply trying to use theirs as a guide to how much he'll get on trade for his. He doesn't mention what he is trading for.
