Hauling my first load

My neighbor is putting a wood floor in his new addition, and I was excited to help him haul the lumber home. He had started with 89 boxes weighing about 100# each, and took 30 in his one ton Ford van the previous day. That left 59 for him and I to split up. I took 12 in the truck box and 15 in the trailer. He took 32 in this van.

The trailer is 2500# capacity and empty weight is 600#. My truck 7200lb GVWR and the sticker on the door says cargo capacity is 1425. Let's hear what you think on how I did loading it?

We are unloading at this point so it is no longer tied down.

I hardly noticed the load, thought I could have taken more. The tras temp was about 150* most of the trip.

Thanks, the drive went very well. It's the loading and unloading where all the work is.

I loved when I put my truck to work for the first time...and every time sense...1st load - half yard of gravel, 2nd, 1 yard of topsoil. Its fun putting it to work

I think he is covering 800 sq ft. He is building an addition to his house.

That's 1/3 of the total sq. The neighbors call it a church. It's larger than a barn. I guess that is the advantage of being in the trades and building your own when building materials are discounted.

We went back for more flooring. I loaded 20 bundles this time to see how well it handled it. That's about 2000lbs

It drove great, trans stayed at 148*. Turned the OD off and then on, and the torque converter stayed locked in both 3rd and 4th uphill. The rear did bounce like there was too much weight loaded too far back, so I would like to do it again with 16 boxes. I sure did like using the Gap Strap to hold it all down.
