Auto dimming side view mirror

Just curious as to how many other people have a driver side auto dimming mirror on their F150. My '07 FX2 has it.

The auto dim feature is standard on power mirrors from 07-up and it's only on the drivers side. TT and manual mirrors don't get it.

Help

I can't find a self-dimming, power driver-side mirror anywhere. It's for an '07 V8 5.4L SOHC.

Can anyone help?

ETA: Even if you only know the part number, that would help a lot.

Bought mine used so can't help on PN but my 07 XLT Scab has that and heated mirrors. It is nice when someone pulls up behind you. Might be model dependent?

I made my earlier post before I pulled my mirrors apart to paint my caps. When I pulled them apart I discovered the drivers side has 4 wires going to the glass, 2 for the heat and 2 for the auto dim. The passenger side only has two wires for heat. So maybe you have to have the power/heated mirrors to get the auto dim.

If you look closely at your mirror glass, there is a 1/4" wide border around the glass and the middle has a coating on it almost like a tint job on the mirror and it only darkens at night when someone lights are in your mirror. During the daytime its almost undetectable.

Yes, but you probably will need the entire housing due to the extra wires for the auto dim feature. The mirror glass itself will physically snap into an 04-06 housing but the wires are not there for the auto dim. I would imagine you could run your own leads for the A.D. and save your self a ton of coin, because the glass only is 14 bucks from tasca.

Can you see the sensor? Is it in the mirror or does it tie into the rear view?

I've never been able to locate the sensor. I don't think it's tied in to the rear view because when my rear view dims, the side view doesn't always dim, only when lights hit it directly.
