Flex a Lite Electric fan on 07Mark LT

Has anyone replaced the factory fan with an electric? I have a fan kit off my 04 F150 that will fit but not sure about the fan clutch on this truck being electric. What do I do with the fan clutch wiring on it now. What controls the clutch wiring? am I going to get check engine lights on if disconnected? Please help. Rod

There have been plenty of people around here to add electric fans. I havent done it yet so I dont have anything to offer.

I have an '08 and installed e-fans. Just leave the fan clutch harness unplugged. There is no MIL light, but there's probably a code if you use a scan tool.

Thanks for the info

I unplugged the harness yesterday and drove around, no check engine light and seems to run fine, I am installing fans today.

There is a parameter in the pcm that sends juice to the clutch when temps are just over 200 degrees to lock it up.

Just do it. You splice into the factory harness on the firewall. Do you have instructions? What controlers are you using?

Interesting.... couldn't you use that signal to feed a relay to turn your e-fans on and off thus eliminating the POS fan controller?

In theory, thru a relay. But you lose the staggard turn on. Unless one is wired a/c only and the other coolant temp regulated.

I was thinking of something similar, run two relays one for the coolant temp and one for the a/c and have each control a separate fan. Since there is only one temp stage, wire the temp controlled relay to also kick on the a/c relay (thru diodes to prevent backfeed) so when the a/c is on only one fan is running, but when the temp relay kicks in both fans run. You would also have a safety built in because if one fan failed you still have another fan to cool.

Update on Fan Install

You have to move the ABS back aprox 1 1/2" to clear the fans and other than that nothing to it. Have been driving for 3 days and the fuel mileage is reading out at 13 mpg. Before the fan install it was at 14.6, I I do not understand how that can be but like the guy earlier stated my mileage has Dropped after installing efans. Any ideas?? Thanks,Rod

Mine did too but it leveled back to normal. Give it a little longer.
