Question CB Radio Question....

I am thinking of getting a cb radio just for the PA system. My question is, should I get the CB or just get one of these http://www.cogapa.com/???? Thanks for the input!

If you are just wanting a PA, get one of the ones on your link.

They should have the PA speaker which plugs into the PA output of the CB. My local RS has them.

Or order them online using a google search.

Thanks man, maybe I didnt look hard enough for a speaker because I really wasnt worried about it at the time. But now I am and I'm gonna ask them tomorrow if they have any!! If they do I will probably by the radio from walmart and the speaker from radio shack!

walmart carries the CB. some walmarts dont have them for some reason tho, but there in the car audio section. radio shack doesn't have the cheap cobra 19.

the PA, radio shack should have next to the radios.

you also need to pick up extra wires and the head phone hook up to plug into the cb and splice onto the PA wires.

are you planning to hook up the CB as well? radio shack or a truck stop will be your best bet on getting all of that.

Well I was just plannin on getting a CB and only using it for the PA. I have never wired one of these things up before either, and unless its easy I'm just gonna ask my neighbor to help!

if you have an aftermarket head unit its easier since the power wire will be labeled you can tap into that for a power source, then ground it out to a bolt behind the dash. all it is is hooking your two wires up, the PA gets its power from the CB which is simple, the hardest part is hiding the wires, for my PA i ran the wires out thru the hole underneath the console (or jump seat if thats what you have) and followed the frame up to where i had the PA mounted.

I'd recommend not using the radio power wire. Just run a fused wire to the battery. Otherwise you're going to introduce noise into the stereo and probably effect the cb performance. Been there done that.
