Help Deciding On Fender Flares

Alright, after washing and waxing my truck today i decided i'm in dire need of some fender flares. I knew it all along just been putting it off. Anyways I found two sets.

First set
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/F150-...Q5fAccessories

These look just like EGR flares, but cheaper. I know cheaper isn't always better so I was wondering if anyone had bought these? If so are they good, and have they held up okay? There seems to be quite a few adds for them on ebay. If not those I will go with the egr flares.

i had a set kind of like that on my 07. paid about $100 for the flares off ebay, had to drill 4 or so holes in the inner fender, then they use adhesive to stick to the body. only downside was paint didn't seem to stick to well to them, which could have been caused by offroading

if you want OEM, PM fx4forlife79, he has a set in his garage from his 05 fx4

Man we must be on the same page with everything lately. I've been thinking about flares, too, and love how those look in the link. Only problem is they say they aren't direct replacement so I'm hosed there. Can't get off with a less expensive pair...

For the FX4 flares...I don't even think they cover 1.5", although I guess it depends on where you're measuring from. If from the side of the body panels, I'd guess it to be under an inch. If measuring the total width of the flares then 1.5". Here's my stock FX4 flares:

I painted them on the truck because I didn't want to break anything taking them off. Problem is the paint job is sub par so I'd rather get new, glossy ones anyway. Price is holding me back.

Yeah, well I don't think those are going to offer enough coverage. Like you my tires stick out a pretty good amount. I need some wider flares to cover it up. Thats why I was looking at these, but I'm not sure these even stick out enough. They look similar to the fx4's just with a rolled bottom lip. Also, I don't have the problem with needing replacements because mine is an xlt, so it didn't come factory with flares.

This picture kind of gives you an idea of how far out my tires stick. I don't think the fx4 flares would offer enough cover to even matter.

Yeah you definitely need something wider. Yours are about an inch further out than mine. I get stuff slung on the sides of the truck all the time.

Haha yeah, i love the no flare look, my rockerpanels don't though. I need some touchup paint quite a few spots. My tires love to pick up rocks and hold onto them until i get on the paved roads at high speeds then just rocket them off.

So, onto new question. How much coverage do the EGR Flares offer? If these don't do it i guess it's on to bushwacker style sides.

Here is a pic of my OEM style ebay flares. I didn't get them from that seller but I bet they are pretty similar. I don't think it will be enough to help you out.

I have seen the actual EGR brand flares on a truck and they are wider than this. Maybe about twice the width of mine but still look relatively stock. They cost more than the ebay knockoffs. The bushwackers are gonna be what you need more than likely!

Hey watson

You might want to get a set of these-

These are Bushwhackers and cover 3" which is what it looks like you need. They do have a 7" overlap on the fender but you can always have them PTM. I left mine black because the truck looked hideous before I put them on and I really liked the way they looked after I put them on so I left them alone. Unfortunately
they are double the price you are looking at with the other ones.

Alright, when i get home from work I will get an exact measurement. Maybe I can go from there. I just am not sure I like the bushwacker style side.

I just installed these ebay ones last week and I think they look great, It took me about an hour to install and they do help. I also hated how far my tries stuck out an now they look much more snug. I got the textured ones same as Desert dawgs... heres a pic of his setup.
