Crash, need a new bumper...

Well I had a fender bender this morning and now it looks like I need a new front bumper. So I'm looking for thoughts.

I'm thinking of replacing it with a bumper that has fog lights on it. My current one doesn't. But the Ford lights are a bit on the spendy side, so I was wondering if anybody put aftermarket ones in and what all would be involved.

I don't think I care if I have the actual switch, a simple rocker would work fine.

Hmm.. I know you can get a new bumper online for fairly cheap.. chrome replacement bumpers are actually cheaper, and you don't have the added cost of having to get it painted.

tascafordparts.com is a good place to pick up original parts, pretty fair prices

You could also look into carpartswholesale.com or partstrain.com.. they have replacement parts for even cheaper.. I've never used either, so I can't say which is the better route.

I have no idea about aftermarket lights though.. If you picked up a 07-08 bumper you would have round fogs though, and they quite a bit cheaper than the square fogs.

That thought has crossed my mind. But with another kid on the way I'll probably go the economical route. I suppose it depends on the estimate and insurance check.

Am also wondering, I need a new facia piece, the part between the bumper and grille. Is that different on the 04-05 and the 06-08? I know the bumper brackets are different, and it's awfully hard to find 06 and ups at the salvage yards.

Yep, thanks for the suggestions, I have found some for about $160-200, they say 2006 but come with square fog light holes. I also figured round would be easiest and not raise questions when it comes time to sell, but not sure if I need the surrounds and any mounting hardware from Ford.

Thanks,

Phil

E-bay has brand new bumpers with the upper bumper pad together. They are after market though, but most aftermarket bumpers fit perfectly. My truck has a after market bumper and foglights. They were a perfect fit. Cant tell they are aftermarket. A little cheaper too.

Damn right it's worth it. Someone cut me off and slammed on their brakes. I took off their back end and received no damage whatsoever.

I chose not to get the fog lights within the bumper, but they can customize it to to whatever you want.

oh, what a poor idiot lol,

I was going to go with that style, but custom making one wasn't so inexpensive, so i went with the normal factory style
