Adding power windows

I apologize if this should be in electrical, but I figured this forum would be the best place to get some input. I have searched and read through many of the adding power window posts, but most of them are filled with garbage posts and not the easiest to follow. For those of you that have made the switch using factory motors/regulators, did you also add factory switches or did you use after market switches? Also, could you let me know some part numbers or specific part names that would be needed? Once I get everything I plan on doing a good write-up on the process. Thanks ahead of time for any input.

i used factory regulators, switches, panels, wiring and everything. I found a wrecked xlt and bought everything I needed out of it. The wiring is really not hard to follow if you havea diagram. I have all the pics and stuff and I have been meaning to do a write up but I havent had a free hour that I have wanted to do the write up since I installed them. PM me if you have any specific questions, I am more than willing to help you out in any way I can.

hey couldnt email you back, said you wont accept emails, anyways, yeah regulators have the motors and everyhting with them, I will get the pictures to you later, goin out right now. is your truck a regular cab or supercab? you may be lucky and find a truck with everything in it in the junkyard and not have to order anything.

no worries. email is jmmorgan82@gmail.com. It's a regular cab XL. I'm adding cruise today and hope to have power windows/locks in by the end of the month. Is $87/each a good price for the regulators if I do have to order em (Tasca)? I'm trying to find a junkyard that has some wrecked F150's in them so I can get all the small stuff and the door panels, but due to all the problems i've read about the regulators, I'm def gonna buy those new.

i used all oem parts to do mine. hopefully your truck is already wired up for them but if not i can probably get you all the plugs and wires that you will need. its not hard to wire them up but it was very time consuming for me. i got lucky and found a member on here that had some door panels and all the switches, i got all 4 for $160 and he was in houston so i just drove down there and picked em up. one thing to know is that you cant use supercab door panels for your truck, but you can use the ones from a crew cab and i see them on ebay all the time. when i did mine a few months ago i shopped around for regulators and tasca had the cheapest, i got all 4 for 300 plus shipping.

Only trucks that came with power windows are wired for them far as I know.so wiring will definetely need to be done, I wired mine to a relay and right to the battery

something that i read somewhere, and i dont know if theres any truth to it, is that in 04 they didnt offer power options on the stx model so therefore none of them were wired for power options. but in 05-08 they had them as an option so they may have the wires already in there. i dont know if that would be the case with the xl's or not (or even if its true for the stx)

This is by far the best mod I've ever done on my truck. I have a '04 XL which had no power at all. At the time, I was going to buy all factory supplies like regulator, door panels, etc. However, I could'nt find any wrecked F-150's in a junk yard. Searced E-bay, and once again nothing.

Thats when I ran into www.A1electic.com and bought everything I needed there. Thats motor and regulators , all the wiring, window switches, and power locks. The regulators and motors are made by Electra Life. These are direct factory replacements. Just take your old manuals out and these bolt directly in there place. The motors are just as fast maybe faster the factory. I've been using them for about 2 years now without one single problem.

Now if your wanting a more "factory Look" than getting the door panels and switches are your best bet. I got the "joker" style swithes mounted on my panels and they really look good. Also, it gives you more leg room between the panel and your seats. Wiring was easier than I thought, hardest part was running the wire harness through the cab to each door. As for the power supply, I just tied in to the "green-blue" ignition wire. There is really no need in tapping into the fuse box like some people say.

I would really take a look at that site , for they got everything you need....except the factory look. I'll try to take some pics in the next couple of days......been meaning to do that for about a year now!!

I know, I've been meaning to post pics for a long time now. Work and the kids take up most of my time. I'll try to post pics this weekend since I'll have a extra day off.

Here are the pics of my window switches mounted on the panels. Sorry it took this long to post a pic. These are the "Joker" style swithes, very comfortable to use plus they are fully lighted.
