Got mine due next month. Not looking forward to it. Just hoping my local-ish American Vehicle guy has access to to the tools if/when they break. Had thought about attacking it myself but needs other work too.

well from the nightmare stories that i have heard i would call this one a success, not a good one but i came out on top ... it set me back 450 though, they said that 4 broke but three of them came out really easy so they only charged me for the one that they had to actually work on to get it out so i was a happy camper when i heard that....

Not bad at all. That's the thing, if they break, they now know how to get them out. Glad it turned out good!

ya i know what you mean that is what my dad said, can't believe that it would cost that much and take that long to get the spark plugs out.... but i guess that is why he still drives an old VW Vanagon...

Wow, $450 to change plugs!!!! That's just flat out highway robbery. My truck is sitting at 72K right now and I would love to do the plugs, but am to skeered to attempt it. I'll wait until it starts running like poop.

So I probably have missed this somewhere but is the spark plug breakage problem only on certain trucks or just all the newer vehiclces... I have the 4.2 so just wondering if later on i should be worried about it.

from what i have heard/understood. the 4.6 had problems with the plugs being blown out and the 5.4 had trouble with them getting stuck in, i am not sure about the 4.6 but i would think the sooner the better i was going to wait till i got a code that they were miss firing but my truck started to run like crap so i just got them done anyways, i know that 450 is a lot for stupid plugs but in the 2 + years owning this truck that is the most expensive tune up/fix i have had to do so i was fine with it....
