2005 fx4 5.4L 3valve what's wrong?

I have a problem and don't know if it is major or just because the motor is "border line lean" from what people say.when driving at night the past few nights when I'm just rolling down the street at like 10-15 mph and step on and off the pedal a few times in a row it seems like the truck is choking itself or flooding out and loosing power. the truck will pick up at 1st then soon as i let off and apply again it seems to wants to die but it doesn't.It just drops rpm and goes nowhere. but soon as i let off the gas and reapply again at steady level the truck runs fine. from a dead stop if I accel. it is fine put if I go on and off the gas it does what I'm saying.

thanks for the help...by the way it is an '05 5.4 3 valve

Your not supposed to do that. That is confusing the electronic throttle motor. There is no need to hit it and let off, it cant respond quickly enough.

thank you the straightest answer yet. I know I'm not suppose to do that but i did 1 time to hear how the exhaust would sound and I realized that it was doin that and then I tripped out for a few minutes.and then tried it again to see if it was gonna do it again and sure enough it did. but thank you for the reasuurance.!!

man you post on a lot of subjects and it seems your always right. but thanks and I shouldn't do that anymore right. And what can I do to fix it or will it always do it? when I get mods will it still do it? I plan on a programmer or a tuner what ever you prefer, and a CAI, already have the exhaust.and maybe a small lift "upper arms, king shocks, and level kit"....

I dont know that it really hurts anything, but it's becasue your throttle is ecltronic and not a cable. I would not do it, it can't do the throttle motor any good. Yep, a tuner is the one mod I could not give up. My exhaust is a close second.
