I'm not trying to knock your claim of that 2mpg gain.. but I coulda swore Mythbusters already busted hardtops? They've actually had 2 episodes covering fuel efficiency claims with tailgates and etc.. and they've generally come to the consensus, leaving the tailgate up results in the best fuel economy. The first time around they even used a F-150

lol.. anywho, that top is pretty awesome.. I love how sleek it looks.. I'd love to see some action shots.. how does it lift up and everything? If I were to ever get a tonnuea, that would definately be on my list!

btw.. heres the youtube clip of Mythbusters episode 64.. I know they tell us not to believe everything we see on TV.. but that test looks pretty accurate to me.. even if that was a Dodge they were testhing the 2nd time around..

Thanks again guys! Lift is great. It works like most other hard tonneau covers with hydraulic shocks. I'll get some action shots.

That's too funny. You are correct on the fact you shouldn't believe everything you see on TV, especially Mythbusters. Entertaining show though.

That looks great RoushF150. Beautiful truck

Where in Colorado are you? Pictures look great. I'm moving back to the Denver area hopefully before the year is over. I miss CO so bad. My parents live in Lone Tree.

Hold on there cowboy. Myth-busters is exempt from mistrust. That's like suggesting we can't trust the Better Business Bureau.

Thanks again everyone.

The family has been sick and I haven't had the chance to get the other shots with it open and up close. I'll get these soon during our next mountain photo shoot in Aspen.

I've never heard of an f150 getting anything near 27mpg. Plus its supercharged, I though that killed your mpg? My bone stock 4.6 best hwy mpg was in the 22 range and I thought I was in heaven.

i dont see how either ...the guage may be messed up or it showed that for a small portion of the trip. Best way is so go almost empty or w.e and go by what your miles say so you can really tell us if it did improve your gas mileage

2wd with street tires, a bed cover, the below listed mods, edge set to 2, 21 or 22 for me at the very best, it does worse on economy (level 1). What am I doing wrong? If a Roush 5.4 can do 27 in Colorado my 4.6 should be able to do 29 in the plains. I say check your mileage via the odometer.

Yours is a supercab with a 4.6 and a flareside. That could be the difference. You have a shorter cab with a longer, skinnier bed. And I'm also running true DI/DO 3" exhaust with the roush suspension 2-3 drop.

I will check the odo next time though. This mileage is a usual best for me as it's ideal conditions: flat, fairly slow, highway, and little-to-no traffic. But even then I'm up at 21 MPG going 78 MPH on the highway. Speed kills mileage.

Try your mileage test going 66 MPH and see what happens. Or go even slower, like 62 MPH. Yes, it's pokey, but it saves gas.

I am sure the added power of your engine helps also, mine has to work harder to maintain the same speed as yours.

That's true. These 5.4's are so much more efficient than the old 2v versions. I am really amazed at the mileage, especially the "in town" mileage if you just drive it like an old lady.

I do other things to improve mileage like overinflation of tires, folding int the mirrors, and use of full synthetic fluids all around. It makes a big difference.
