Angry It happened again!

Well last summer I had to have a set of wheels replaced (liquidmetals) they were good looking wheels but I think they were a cheaper brand. The chrome started peeling off really bad. It would just flake off in my hand. So I got in contact with discount tire and they replaced them for free. Well today I was cleaning the truck and my right from passenger wheel started to flake off. These wheels are Black Rhino Kenyas. They are suppose to be a better wheel then the last ones. It just really ticks me off because I babied these things so it wouldn't happen again. So tomorrow I'm going to see what I can have done about it. Hopefully they can give me a little something towards a new set. If not I'm thinking about just having these sand blasted then powdercoated black. I really liked chrome wheels on my truck because I have a chrome roush grill ect. But if I have them powdercoated I plan on leaving the lugs and center caps chrome so I can still have a little chrome to accent my grill. All in all I'm just disappointed that it happened again, Sorry I just had to vent to someone and I figured this would be the best place. I'll keep ya'll posted on what I figure out.

Powder coating them would look sharp, but you can get a new set from discount. Totally your call. What part of the country do you live in, might be a reason why the chrome is flaking so early.

x2, never use wheel cleaners on your wheels it will kill the finish, soap and water is the only way to go!

x3.

I've always used soap/water on chrome wheels and never had a problem. I had a set of Moto Metal 951's on my old truck and had to have them replaced because the chrome started flaking. The region I live in had nothing to do with it since we have mild winters and never see salt. That is the only set of wheels that I DID use wheel cleaner on.........

i mainly washed the wheels with soap and water but I have used meguiars hot chrome wheel cleaner before so that might have something to do with it. Also I live in Western Kentucky so we don't get much salt. We got some last year but I kept the truck parked. Anyway I went today to a local tire shop and looked at some BOSS 330's, they priced them to me at $229 a piece which I thought was a pretty decent price. They said they could give me anywhere between $500-$700 for my current set. It's not a for sure price though because they gu who normally prices this stuff was out of town. They also had some BOSS 332's but they were $259 a piece

I've had my Kenyas for a year now with no problems so far. I only wash them with soap and water though. Hope you have better luck with whatever you choose next.

Most aftermarket wheels are quite cheap! Built in China quality! I'll stick with my OEM quality Ford 20" Alcoa's Polished Aluminum's anyday!

Boss Motorsports 330's are made in the USA. So are my Boss Motorsports 313's.
