Tapping please help

Tapping noise from under the truck???

COME ON,,, I DRIVE THE SAME TRUCK AS YOU I JUST NEED SOME HELP!

Hey, im new to this but just thought i'd try and get some insight.... My truck is making a tapping noise thats not loud but very easily noticed... You can here it after the truck warms up, louder on the passenger side under the cab between the door and the fender best... Ive talked to ford they blow me off and say cam phasers,, ive used a stethiscope tool on the front engine cover and valve covers,,, nothing. I can hear the injectors ticking but that is normal operation, considering the plastic intake... Ive read multiple threads on this site,, maybe cam follower, but cant hear it out of the valve cover... Listened on the oil pan and the exhaust, nothing... The thing sounds like a diesel almost... Im getting very frusterated.. Any help would be great.

Do you have a 5.4, only they have the cam phasers. The clackity-clack sound, like a diesel, is a telltale sign it's the cam phaser. 04's and 05's are more prone to cam phaser problems.

if your dealer says cam phaser, i dont know why there would blow you off. my 08 did that....the tech had to get under my truck to hear it. he told me not to drive it and they pushed it in. both of mine were bad and they even locked up the timing chain tensioners. i ended up with 2 new cam phaser, new timing tensioners, and timing chain. if i didnt have my warranty, would have cost me $3200!!!

go to another dealer!!!
