rust on rear fender

Hello,

I have a 2004 Lariat. Yesterday I noticed approximatley 8 small rust bubbles on the right rear fender. I did a search here and figured it is probably the butyl pad causing the problems. I called the dealer and they said they remember that issues but that it is "closed" and they would no longer cover it. They said there are no open recalls based on my VIN#. I bought the truck used in 2006 and apparantly the prior owner/lessor never had it taken care of.

Has anyone had Ford take care of this problem recently?

Would it be covered under the rust warranty (5 years). One of the spots has "broken" through the paint but there is no "perforation/hole"?

How can I tell where my truck was manufactored and if it was part of the recall when it was first issued?

Thanks in advance for your replies

My 04 FX4 had the same problem. I had it fixed in early December of 2008.

I brought it in for an oil change at the local Ford dealer and showed the bubbling under the FX4 decal to a service tech. He had the dealer body shop manager come take a look. He took one look and assured me it would be fixed. The entire box side was replaced and repainted. Looks perfect, no complaints. I'm happy they took care of the problem. No other rust issues, even with the salty roads here in MN.

did Ford pay for the repair? If so, was it under the butyl pad recall or under the rust warranty?

thanks
