Scheduled maintenance

My truck run great, other than the faulty throttle body, which I am awaiting a replacement.

I change the oil every 3k with full syn. and a Motorcraft filter. What else can I do? And how often? I know the manual has a scheduled maintenance section, but I'm wondering what you guys do. Thanks.

Really... new fuel filter every 9k miles for me? I thought they'd hold up longer then that?

How easy is that to change? Or how much would the dealer charge? How do I go about cleaning the mass air sensor?

Thanks man!

I believe the fuel filter recommendation is every 15k miles. He could be going at 5k miles oil intervals.

I personally change mine at 15k and the air filter also. Rotating the tires is also something not to forget about.

Rotating wheels(every 5k), checking the spare tire pressure(often) & everything already listed.

dont let the dealer do your fuel filter go buy the $5 tool crawl under there and diy. theres pics in the how to. its real simple

I just did my plugs and wires about 3k ago. as sad as this is i had one wire that wasnt hooked up to the plug from the factory. it use to idle ruff and i checked them all but it was so corroded it wouldn't snap down. I didnt find out till i changed them all out.

Just curious, how dirty was the rear & front diffs at 50K? The manual says not needed until 100K even for severe Police/Taxi usage.......

Not very dirty at all. It still smelled like 10 yr old gear oil though. I replaced it with valvoline and the friction modifier from Ford.

What about pulleys(tensioner, idler, etc), belts, hoses. How often should they be changed?

Ftruck when you changed the rear diff oil was there alot of metal shavings on the fill plug? I recently changed mine and noticed alot of metal shavings and this was only at 30k.

I've seen motorcraft hoses on a 20 year old truck with 200k, and they were still fine. Just keep your coolant changed, and use distilled water.

Replace pulleys when they start to make a noise.

Serp belt will go just as long as the hoses. Motorcraft belts are damn good quality. Compare one side by side with an aftermarket and you will see the difference. The original belt on my 96 truck is still like new (no cracking at all), the truck has 85k miles. I thought it would be stretched out, so I ordered a MC off the internet, and when I compared them side by side, the old one wasn't any longer.
