my 120v 400w outlet

The other day I got tiered of not having a perment spot for my power converter so I re-wired my subs. I have a 4ga (fused at the battery) wire running back to my amp were it splits (and is fused again) to two 8ga wires one to my p3002 rockford amp the other to the converter both are grounded close as possible to each device. Then I popped off my interior panel and riveted the bottom plate to it. heres how it turned out. I can run my subs full blast with a 3/8 drill and a 10 buffer no blown fuses.

Not bad but tiny =). I would of put something that small on the side of the center console or under the front seat. I put mine on the front of the sub box using 0/1 wire pretty much routed like you did.

hehe yea I know. I use to have the same one you got there but I got a deal on this one from Amazon. They had them these 1000w on sale for like $65 off plus I had a gift certificate for $50 and free shipping so I got it for like $30 delivered. It's amazing how much juice these things pull just to make AC.

Lots of Amps

Well, yes. Lots of amps. Do the math. 1000 watts divided by 120 volts is 8.333 amps AC. Now on the other side you are still pulling 1000 watts but now at 12, Ok, 13 volts. So 1000 watts divided by 13 volts is 76 amps. Now add a little for efficiency losses and you got over 80 amps at full load. That's tremendous current. I'm sure no one runs it at full load, but you get the idea. They not a bad thing to have, but you have to be able to handle the massive current on the 12 volt DC side. Chears.

My Power Inverter is used to run my 17" or 15.2" laptop. Here's a few images of my setup...

The next image shows it running my laptop...
