Transmission went out...again
Well my transmission died yet again. Not sure If I started a thread last time it died, but just to update everyone back in February (98k on the truck) my front clutch packs went out and had to be replaced.
Well 4k miles later I'm truckless again. I was driving along the freeway at about 75mph with cruise control on. I hit a small bump, like one of those cracks in the concrete that if you're going fast enough feels like a mild bump and I hear my truck rev up extremely high. I quickly took it out of cruise control and tried to accelerate... nothing. Just reved up really high and wouldn't go anywhere.
I managed to get it over to the shoulder as my truck was losing momentum. I pulled over and shut it off, tried to start it again and merge back onto the freeway. It starts to go then as soon as it tried to shift in to 2nd it reved up really high again so I just pulled back over. Tried using 1 and 2 on the column shift and it would do the same thing... start to go then seem like it slips out of gear and revs really high. I tried resetting the ECU and checked for any visible damage, leaking fluids, found nothing.
I had the truck towed back to the same dealer who repaired the transmission last time. Told them what happened, still waiting to hear what they found. I'm not a huge fan of this dealer, but it was my best option at the time.
Anyway, just needed to rant. Thanks for reading. If you have any thoughts on what it could be I'm all ears.

I'm hearing more and more about these transmissions failing. Mine just went out at 92,000. One rebuilder I talked to said he has done about 15 of them this year and all the rigs had between 70-100K
Oh great hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come
Check out my problem here whining noise. My truck only has 21,000 miles and they aren't sure if it's the transfer case or transmission yet.

Mine went at 72k. Im at almost 100k now, so far so good on this second one which has a 75k mile warranty. These transmissions really are trash. When MT's went he opened his up and was stunned at the size of the small clutches in these transmissions. He said for a fullsize truck they are weak.

) my truck to take me just about any where. I've taken it on very long road trips and it has always been great. Just lately it seems to be acting up. Has anyone else had this problem? To the guys who's transmissions went out, did you have similar symptoms? Or is this just me?
I'm going down there tomorrow afternoon to hopefully get some answers. they've had it since Tuesday so hopefully they have it figured out. I need to know if I should pick up extra shifts to start saving or go out drinking this weekend
These threads are starting to more common. I'm a little worried about mine. The shift to 4th has always been more like a clunk/thud since the truck was new. Two dealers said the hard shift was nothing to worry about. However lately it is shifting smoothly into 4th. I don't mind the new smoothness of the shift but at 50k miles I don't like things like this changing.
