Driver's window switch...what do you use to fix it?

I've seen a few threads about that dang little pin in the driver's window switch wearing down, and I'm wondering what yall use to replace that pin/peg. I've used a piece of hardwood, but it isn't working the best, and I'm looking for other/better ideas. I tried a piece of hard plastic, but that didnt last long AT ALL.

And before you say "buy a new switch module" ... no. There is no sense in wasting perfectly good cash on a whole module when the problem is a piece of plastic that cost probably around $0.0000000001 to manufacture. It isn't my fault Ford's engineers designed it stupidly, so I'm not going to reward them with more of my money to replace it.

I used the pin from the rear window switches on the drivers main switch. I never roll them down cause of the kids.

I use my back windows too though . Crap. Guess I really just need to find a salvaged truck and see about pulling a module from it.

Thats how it starts, it will eventually lock up. At least thats what mine did. Its so mior I cant believe they didn't come up with something better for the door switches. I took out my pin for the drivers side and it was basically melted.

I am going to look in a junk yard too. figure it cant be too much, that way I will have 7 extra pins in case something goes wrong again. My passenger one is starting to go now.

When you took the pin out, how did you do it? I've got the entire plastic piece with all the switches on it? can you pop off each individual button? or on the bottom side does the like brain off it come off?

Same prob, yeah. And I'll be damned if I buy a $60+ module to replace a $0.00000000001 part.

Bigdog, you can pop off the switch cover (the 5 black oval looking dealies with the arrows) once you've removed whole module from the armrest. From there, you need to release the clips holding on the cover. I used 4(?) knives to slide under each latch. Just inspect all the different latchings on the module to figure out how to bust that bad boy open.

It takes a while the first time, but it's way better than paying crap tons for a whole new module that will just go out soon (to me at least)

I just am afraid to break it, but I guess if I break it. I'll just have to order the new guy. When they send you the module is it just that plastic POS that clips in under the buttons? I had the module out of the arm rest, and tried to release the black pieces that clipped into the tan holes? haha wish I had names, so your saying stuff things on each clamp to open it out and pull it out and i can see the pins?

When I do it next, I'll try to remember to post pictures......that way it is more clear.

I remove module (black box) from armrest (grey piece for me). Then pop off the switch covers (watch out so you dont lose the metal piece that the "window lock" switch rocks around). Then pop open the black box (which has approx 4 clips on its sides). Then I pull out the f'd up switch, and pull out the middle pin (that has been my problem pin/peg).

Oh ok. If you get a chance anytime soon, that'd be great if you could get some pics! I'm going out of town tomorrow afternoon and won't be back for around 7-10 days so anytime in their would be fabulous!
