Front end collision= fog lights

I was in a front end collision last Friday and sustained damage to the front bumper, bumper cowl. Should I opt for the fog light bumper since they are the same price? Or even get the 2006 bumper with the round fogs,( mine is an '05 ). I would say do it now or never. I could buy the lights and do the install of them myself after the body work is done. What do you guys think? I think all the bumper supports need to be replaced, so its a nobrainer to me.

If I were in your shoes, I would opt for the 06 bumper with the round fog lights. Are the two bumpers interchangable? What kind of work do you have to do to change them?

To go from the 05-06 bumper all you have to do is change out the brackets, plus wiring.

I personally like the 05 lights better, but the 06 style makes your truck look newer. When it comes time to sell the 06 style in an 05 truck might be a red flag for some buyers. Or not.

Either way I think it's worthwhile, I would do the same thing if I had the opportunity.

go for it, fog lights make driving at night much safer because they fill in between the headlights and the front bumper

round are also less likely to crack due to a rock hitting them because there is less vulnerable surface area

I guess I'll jump in here with a voice of reason...

YES on fog lights
NO to round ones...
I think the rectangular fog lights are a much better match for the look of the truck. The headlights are big and rectangular and the rectangle fog lights mimic that style, in my opinion.

although... seeing Fordabbits signature picture above, I could see an argument for the fact the round fog lights might look better with the HD/FX2 headlights that are black except for the reflectors. Then you see the round reflectors in the headlights and the round foglights would look nice with that.

But I still have the clear headlights. Maybe someday I'll spring for a nice set of FX2 headlights...

Got the 2005 bumper with the rectangular fog holes. Have the lamps and brackets, wiring is on the way. I need the oem switch and now to find the relays for the fogs. Anyone have any pointers?

congrats

I'd look to junkyards... chances are that the switch and relays would not be damaged in a crash so you could pick them up cheap...

Or go through a dealer...

OK, here is an update on the fog light install. The bumper is on. The lamps, brackets and bulbs are on the truck. Now I have to make them operational. I have the harness for the bulbs and now I need the light switch ( just ordered from Tasca, thanks for the help, Dominic). Does anyone know what pin is used for the fogs and the correct way to hook them up? If I am getting the power from the switch, it should be just grounding the fogs and wiring the fogs to the switch, correct? I'm so close I can taste it.

Good call on going with the 05 bumper. Make sure to upgrade those bulbs to 9005s.
