Do the 04-08 trucks still have the door rust issue?

I posted this in the 09+ forum too, since I'm looking at either a new '09 (or '10) or else a used 08 Supercrew. Anyway, I know the 150's had rust issues in the doors in the past, but was wondering if it is no longer an issue with the next generations.
Thanks!
Jerry

Nah, Jerry, they have enough other issues, they don't need no rust issues! Good Luck with whatever you choose- you'll love it!

It all comes down to how well you maintain a vehicle. Ford's done a good job of dealing with rusting on the '04 and up trucks, but we still have to do our part as owners. I see vehicles on the road that are only 5 or 6 years old that have amazing rust because the owner doesn't look after it. I live in an area that uses sand/salt on the roads for 6-7 months of the year, every spring I get under my truck with the hose and wash out all the nooks that salt likes to collect in. I wash it once a week during the winter and wax it at least twice a year.

The simple truth is that it's easier to maintain a vehicle then it is to fix it after the damage has been done.

Rust

In addition to keeping the salt off as much as possible, I firmly believe in Ziebart Rustproofing. I have a 97 F150 I had done when I bought it in 99 and it has no rust to date. Just picked up a 07 last month and it will be rustproofed before fall.

I thought RUST went out with the VEGA & PINTO !!

I've lived along FORIDA BEACHES all my life (62) and never seen a speck of rust on any of my vehicles........

come to think of it, I don't see rust hardly anywhere, anymore!

bfdtpkt- They have a term for people like you- legally blind!

You haven't been lookin much. I can remember seeing cars in the 50's and 60's from along the coast in Florida that litterly had the rear quarters flapping in the wind by the time they were 4 years old. You might want to get out more.

I had my old 2000 f150 for 6 years and put 96k on it never had a problem with rust on it. Come November I'll have my current truck 4 years and so far no rust issue with it either and it has a little over 50k on it.

OR, and I'm just putting this out there, maybe the cars of today stand up to the environment better then they did 50-60 years ago.

Oh, you're right, cars did rust back then.......
especially the cars that the YANKEES would park ON Jacksonville Beach, the tide would come in up to their frame........
THOSE cars did have a problem within a couple of years.......

BUT, FLORIDA has NO SMOG like your Los Angeles AREA.....

Vehicle rust prevention & technology with metal has come a long way since 10-20 years ago, however you must still keep a vehicle clean, & wax at least twice a year, & you will be suprised at how long they will last....

You are absolutely correct, you've got to keep washing to keep the chemicals in the air (depending on where you live) off the vehicle.......

but like you said, I haven't seen any rust issues with late model vehicles.
