Re-Key Door/Ignition?

Hello all,

Had a bit of misfortune this weekend, and a set of keys were stolen from my garage, and my 2007 F-150 Screw 4X4 was broken into (not outright stolen, weird).

Aside from the items that were boosted, now there is someone with a spare set of keys to my ride. My question is, how hard/easy/idiotic is it to re-key the door and ignition? I called my local stealership, and they basically laughed at me telling me it would be "very expensive" with little or no details.

I already re-programmed the remaining key-fob I had, so that should have disabled the other one. I think I could get away with just re-keying the door lock, giving me 2 keys (1 door, 1 ignition like the old days) and seal the security leak.

Anyone ever had to re-key a door on the 04-08's? Am I even able to?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Does your truck have power locks, do you have a keypad on the drivers handle?

Well if your willing to lose your keyhole, just install a left rear door handle in the drivers door, yes it will fit. That way they can't get into your truck without a working keyfob (one that is programmed to your truck) unless they break in.

Not a bad idea. Really never use the key hole, and it would eliminate some of the uneasy feeling. haha. Thanks!
