My SCREW has had 2 different sensors replaced and I'm still stalling out, codes or lights don't come or register until the 3rd or 4th restart and sputter.
40k on engine no problems until this. I did put in 25 gallons of gas before i'st stall that happened about 15 miles after fill up, 2 sensors and $500 later no resolve, wonder if anyone else had to deal with a problem like this??

 

What codes did it set?

 

first time it happened I stalled 2 times with no codes, second time I got 3 codes after multiple restarts/into drive and stall, had TPS sensor replaced, that got me home 5 miles next day Codes came up for Crankshaft Sensor, drove it 25 miles felt it was running well and stalled out again.

 

Do you have the specific code numbers? There wasn't any rich codes, or anything about the fuel pump driver module?

Is your truck two or four wheel drive? And do you go offroad much, like in dirt/mud/water/etc.?

 

Well its been really wet hear in Mass. the past 8 weeks, I did go thru maybe 8 to 16" of water before this happened, with no notice upfront of any problems It is a 4x4
The codes On my paperwork for my first vist look like 6068 and I'm not sure thats a 6 at the front, followed by 320 and 2106 after the TPS sensor was put in I stalled out 10 miles down the rode and had multiple stalls and restarst to get it back to my mechanic about 3 miles away, again I got no visable check engine lite or anything on the dash until perhaps the 3'rd or 4'th start/stall The Recipte says False code Crankshaft Sensor codes coming up and they replaced the crankshaft sensor, I drove the truck for about 25 miles with no problem split backroad/highway no problem, and it hesitated and stalled out on a back road 3 miles from my home. I restarted and drove home slow no dash lites/warning lites on and truck has been in driveway since.

 

Truck is not used for off roading just had to go thru a big puddle!

 

Disconnect the alternator (just the three wire regulator plug, leave the battery cable connected) and drive it around for a bit, see if you can make it act up again.

 

ok I was thinking fuel filter, pcv could pose a prob, I'l give that a try, can you explain to me how that could cause the stalls at high or low speed?

 

Fuel filters usually show themselves under load, on medium/heavy acceleration.

I've seen a few alternators with faulty diodes throw out radio frequency interference, that can scramble the crank sensor's signal and cause random stalling.

 

well sounds like I should be lookin at Fuel filter!!!Ford says to replace it at 30k I need to go back thru paperwork but i may have original FF in truck Would that give a code if it were flowing poorly?

 

Well it seems the problem was a chaffing wire harness, with exposed wire, I'm not comfortable with that but hey, it's not stalled yet, but I've only driven about 20 miles, I do feel like the rpms and at a stop, flucate more. and
are different, feel vibes thru the brake petal now, I didn't seem to have felt before.
Quintin if you read this what is a cam phaser and what does it do?
