Yep, depending on where the leak is.

There is also check valves in line between the solenoid and the hubs to prevent the hubs from trying to engage during temporary low vac during accel or under load. When they go bad, your hubs will try to engage during accel. Thats what mine did, they had to replace the solenoid, both check valves, and a complete hub assy.

I just took it around the block in 4x4 and I couldn't get it to make that sound. I'm guessing my next step is to check out the check valves.
