Truck Pull
Truck Pull
SO of course I'm jackin my jaw to a buddy and his dad. They both own Toyotas with the 5.7L. He said we can hook up a chain. Now his is stock 4x2 and mine is 4x4 with EDGE.
You think if I was in 4lo I'd have a shot?
FYI, he doesnt know that 4lo will cut my gear ratio.

Don't get a chain, when it breaks it will freakin mess up someones truck. Get a good tow strap with a big rating. Just having 4X4 will probably win you the comp. If I were you, I would hold my foot on the break until his tires start spining, then mash the gas. Be willing to do some damage to you driveline. Even though his will probably give first, don't come back on here in two days complaining that your rear end needs rebuild or something.
well i have a great deal of experience with this
friends of mine use to do it all the time when we got bored, now if your on pavement im warning you something will have a better chance of breaking, but on pavment it comes down to who has the power where on grass its who has the better tires, and who weigh's more, dont hold your foot on the break he will know your cheating,(third break light so give you away, you could unplug it tho
) so basicly what im saying is he whos tires spin first will usually get pulled

Traction is usually what ti come down too. While lugging the engine and revving RPMs sounds horrible while the tires are not spinning (because it is stressing the drivetrain), that is where the power is most effectively put to the ground. Once one side smokes a tire or two it is usually over. Does his truck have LS? yours? I would imagine 4low would make for a huge advantage as it will multiply the torque. If you do decide to pull him backwards, don't use a chain and video tape it.
First piece of advice, don't do it. Second piece, don't do it in 4LO. The kind of revs you need to pull this off aren't available in low range. 4LO is pretty much done by about 500 RPM, anything above that is almost guaranteed to separate the transfer case from the rest of the drivetrain.
The key is to hold the brake until the other guy breaks traction, then you just drive away with him. You could probably pull this off in 2HI with the same procedure.
