Help! Edge Key (Remote Head) Mod
Help! Edge Key (Remote Head) Mod
Ok, so I bought the 3-button remote head key to use with my F-150. And it works great. One key, no fob, dream come true. Now for the problem. My fiance has a 2007 Edge, I have a 2007 F150. My key, that was programmed miles away from her car, unlocks and locks her vehicle as well as mine. The Ford place doesn't know what is going on and keeps telling me nothing except that key isn't for an F150. Well, today they cleared her computer thingy and it still does it. They want to clear mine but I don't see how it will work. We have tried and tried to reprogram to no avail. I did convince the tech to grab another key and try the remote part and he said it worked as is should. Could it really be my key only? But they have to get special permission to cover it under warranty. And I keep getting the run-around.
Any thoughts, please chime in!
Thanks,
Philip

something is wrong with her car then
For a clicker to work on a vehicle, it must be specifically assigned a slot in that cars PCM.
This requires the Key On/Off sequence in your owners manual. If her car is picking up the signal from your clicker, that means 1 of 2 things.
Does her clicker unlock your truck?

1. Her car is accepting signals from non-programmed clickers...scary
2. Her car clicker and your F-150 clicker have the same signal...wierd coincidence
I've had #2 happen to me before. My 2000 4Runner one day beeped at me as usual when I locked it, but a few cars down, another 2000 4Runner beeped as well and unlocked. Hers would lock when I unlocked and vice versa....so I hung out for awhile with my wife and we told the lady...kinda freaky.

btw, if it is option #2...you are pretty much stuck with the situation.
each clicker has it's own unique frequency assigned.
but there aren't that many unique choices...so they get recycled. The odds are against it, but you might have somehow gotten one just like the one her car uses...so Her car thinks it is the correct clicker
I hate to say it, but try another Fusion Key

No her key doesn't operate my truck. To be able to program her car to my key you have to turn the key in the ignition and only that key. Impossible seeing how its keyed for my truck. I'm calling them again this morning to find out the next step.
