Lightbulb Who has installed the Champion plugs in their 5.4?

I installed the one piece Champions about 3000 miles ago and have no complaints. My truck runs better then it did with the Motorcrafts, and my MPG has improved as well. I immediately noticed a much smoother idle (new plugs I know), and smoother acceleration.

The acid test will be time. If it's still running as good at 20 or 30K then these plugs will be the only ones I use.

I had the Champions for about 10k miles and ran great but then developed a misfire. Turns out one of the Champions were at fault. I have since switched back to Motorcraft.

I can't for the life of me figure out why Ford knows about this problem but still produces a two peice plug for these trucks.

Ford doesn't make the plugs. Noone wants to pay for the design and tooling. Ford fixed the head design in 2008, so there is no incentive for them.

This I did not know. So what about us guys with pre-08 trucks? Even if we get the original plugs out ok and replace them with Motorcraft, we could have the issues next go round right?

The theory is as long as you put the anti-seize on the sleeve portion then the problem won't return.
