Problem: 04 S.Crew- 2WD - intermittent squeak / resistance

Since I did not want to get too 'in depth' in the title, here is the deal...

(Also, I have done some searching and THINK I may know what it is, but posting to see if anyone agrees...)

OK - Details: 04 F150, Supercrew, 2WD, 5.4L, 6" ProComp lift, etc.

For about 2 weeks now, I have had an intermittent problem with the truck. Sometimes, there is a 'noise' when the truck is going into gear (very seldom) - kind of a 'thump.' Intermittently, there will be a sort of metallic 'scraping' noise that seems to vary with the RPMs. Also, intermittently, I will feel a sort of 'resistance' (or drag / sluggishness), but not from the engine. This is usually accompanied by a noticeable vibration.

Other items:
Recently replaced the plugs, no problems from the enging (other than an IAC valve code that says 'lower than expected' that I can't get to go away...)

When the problem is happening, I can hold a constant pedal pressure, keeping RPMs the same, and shift into neutral - all problems go away. As soon as I go back into gear, problem resurfaces.

I humbly ask the gurus here... whaddya think?
