like the title suggests, i took my truck on a motocross track on the 4th. i didnt jump it or anything but the engine quit on a steep incline and the dash read "check gauges" after rolling back down, it started and ran fine.

i checked for error codes and it reads none found, but it also reads "not ready" for an emissions test...

did i starve the engine of oil?

did i trigger a non resettable rollover code?

Check your battery connections. If everything is tight, then your alternator might be on it's last leg. You might want to bring it to an auto parts chain, and have them do a load test on it. If it comes out positive... then I dunno... you might have *almost* set off the fuel shut off switch from the steep incline...

What about oil level/pressure from not being able to pick up oil?

the battery is 4years/45k miles old, but whats that have to do with a steep incline??

thats what im worried about... think it would have shut off before any major damage? and wouldnt that have stored a code?

Trust me... I've seen some weird stuff happen when you start tilting or offroading vehicles. Batteries for one need to be kept upright as possible, but I'm sure that motocross track wasn't the smoothest thing to be driving on and I just bet that one of clamps on the battery pole might be loose.

As far as the oil pressure... there is no way. I've been in trucks before on inclines that you would think the truck would flip with no ill effects. Unless you are low on oil or something...

I cant wait for the pics, I bet it was fun! I too have been on some rediculous almost roll over incline situations and have never had any problems with the oil, but I guess it might be possible. I dont think that would stall the engine though, would it?

any idea where the fuel pickup is? i was maybe a half tank or so.

How much gas was in the tank at the time? If you had less than 1/2 tank, the extreme angle could have pulled fuel away from the pickup and stalled you out.

The track owner let you on the track with your truck?

It was about a half tank, but from my experiance, the first half of the tank is much "bigger" than the second half.

its a private track owned by a friend from high school. its a real nice facility with lights, water truck, skid loader and the whole works.

he just got done having a pitbike race and it just seemed like the next thing to do. he is a pretty fun guy.

I'd bet it was the fuel pickup, when mines below a half and it sloshes sometimes mine dies out, and it has stalled on a hill before at a quarter tank
