i hate two tone!!!

has anyone gotten rid of their two tone? i hate my black and gray...i wish it was all black!!!

if so what did you do to change it? i have a reall small budget and i thought to myself that i could use the do-it-yourself roll on bedliner. i figured all i would need to do is mask it all off and then prep it then roll it on with a couple of coats.

what do you guys think?

I hate two tone as well, but I do not think that will look good. I think it will dull out. Several have had the bottoms painted at paint shops.

Just save the money up and do it at a body shop. I work in a body shop as a painters helper, and we painted a few to eliminate the 2 tone. Its not too hard, but the labor will get ya.

I have thought about getting my gray two tone painted as well. Better yet, going and getting the lower section line x'ed the main color of the truck. My biggest issue with it is the fact that I have not been able to find many wheels that look good with both colors.

ill probably do the line x so that its professionally done, but that would probably run me $1000 which by then might be the same price as some new paint.

I think it makes the truck look less clean and more tough. I am impartial to it, not something I would search for or avoid. I feel the same way about the above posts about chrome bumpers, door handles, wheels, etc though, lol. To each his own I guess.

I think the two-tone looks good on some trucks and doesn't on others..... it all depends on the look you're after.

My truck is a white '08 FX4 with the luxury package so it has the dark shadow gray headlights and I put on the dark shadow gray FX2 grille. The dark shadow gray two-tone color matches and flows well with my truck and I'm very happy with the look.

If you do want to get it to match I would probably just have it painted and not do the line-x. Paint will cost more (and maybe a lot more depending on the condition of your OEM paint) but it will look better. I've never seen line-x have the same gloss shine that paint/clearcoat has so it'll still have that two-tone look to it. Just my $.02

I've been back and forth about the two-tone look. I have the DSG two-tone on my red F150... when I first bought the truck, I wanted to get it painted..... but now that I've added the wheels, roush grille, black-out lights, etc... it looks kinda neat. I'd still like to have the truck painted all red, though.... just not enough anymore to justify the cost.

I like the silver black and white black and well anything with black. black alone if done right looks good if you yank the chrome.

Tieing it all together like that, it looks good. The two tones I dislike especially are the gold/beige. Even the KR does nothing for me. Now, the two tone on the old Harley's, that's a different animal. Love those.

i know. when i found out it would run about a grand to do it right, that is, paint the bottom and re-clear the panels i decided that the DSG bottom didn't bother me so much.

Hammerite paint holds up better for lower pannels and won't fade out. You get the hammered finish and durability with out the UV fade in the future. As a teenager I built fencing for ranchers, I would paint my welded pipe corner posts and gates with Hammerite, now when driving around my old stomping grounds most have held up very well. Just my 2 cents worth.

X2 Mines Silver with the Dark Grey... But mine's also a flareside.
So not sure how it would look solid Silver....

That's my problem finding wheels that will look right, etc...
I'd kind of like black wheels but with the two tone don't think that'll look right.

That is exactly where I am. I love the black wheels, but not opposed to chrome. I even like the polished look. But, with the silver/gray two tone, one wheel that looks good with the silver doesn't with the gray. I have noticed as well that the black wheels are kinda "gounded out" if you will against the gray on the bottom. I have thought about some of the eagle alloys that are just a machined look. I currently have OEM 20's and love the polished look those have.

I gave up my search for an all white SCREW and "compromised" by buying the white over tan. It looks ok, but I really want an all white truck. Have debated on getting rid of the tan bottom as well. Ford's Oxford White is awesome.
