Lightbulb Maintenance Help

Ok my truck is a 2004 5.4 4X4 with 55,000 miles. I was just wondering what kind of maintenance things you guys think I should have done, or should be getting ready to do. I've already change the oil every 3,000 miles. I've also changed the fuel filter and air filter. Also is there any kind of grease zerkz that I should grease? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Going by your username, you probably work on a farm. I'm just assuming.

Anyways, going by that, you are probably used to F-Superduty having greased Zerks and stuff. Well, sadly Ford didn't do that for the F150, because it is technically considered a light duty/consumer use truck. Not commercial/heavy duty/industrial grade truck.

It wouldn't hurt to change the transmission oil and possibly the transfer case and rear end fluids too. If it is LS, don't forget to add the 5oz of the friction modifier.

One thing that is often overlooked are shocks and struts. You might want to get a new set, maybe even go aftermarket and get stiffer gas shocks especially if you actually use the truck on the farm (which I'm assuming you do). I do know that the shocks Ford uses are junk. I already had one of my front shocks bust and start leaking at 18k. But I recommend replacing them at 50/65k miles or 5-6 years. They don't last forever. Heck, at close to 3 years on my F150, with only 30k, they are starting to be a little sloppy. I will replace them for sure at 50k or 5 years... but, maybe sooner.

Other things are tires and alignments, and brakes... assuming you are rotating the tires every 5/8k miles, you might not notice wear on the front tires to see if the alignment is a hair off depending on the type of tires you got. Some tires will immediately show alignment issues, and some will take 10k miles. You might want to check your alignment, but if the tires look ok after 8k miles keeping them on the front, then you probably are ok. Also, don't forget about tires, if you haven't already, you might want to get some new tires.

As far as brakes, 50/65k are good times to be thinking about new brakes, depending on how much you use them. If you live out in the country, where stop signs are far and few, then they should last you until 100k. But if you venture into the city, with a lot of stop and go, then expect to change them sooner. But at this point, keep an eye on them. Don't let them go squeaking, metal-to-metal.

Thanks! I appreciate it! I'll start looking into that stuff! As for living on a farm I do, but we don't really use this for anything hard. It's just my school vehicle. We use an F-350 for that stuff...
