Buying used 2005 crew cab.

Need some help, live in the East and looking at a 2005 f-150 crew cab. 37k miles seems like it was very well card for, almost fanatical! Listed at $21k. Need and opening number and recommendations on this baby! Do they hold up?

First off, welcome, and secondly, if its a Lariat, 21,000 would be good, maybe a little less if XLT. I priced it out as an XLT, and it said 22,xxx, and i always subtract about 2,000 from that...... my .02....it just really depends on trim and options....but it sounds like a nice truck...if its what you want, go fer it, cant put a price on happiness...lol

That sounds a little high for any model, but need to know a lot more. Trim package, engine, etc.

I paid 21k for an 04 FX4 2 years ago w/29000 miles when the truck market was still going strong.... Almost wish I would have waited a year, but that's another year without an awesome truck.

21k for an 05 seems steep for this market, granted it has low miles, unless it's a completely loaded lariat, or if it's a king ranch, jump on that thing!

Or you could dump a few thousand more and go for an 09, a moderately equipped XLT Supercab with a 5.4 will run you about 28k or so, depending on where you live, but that's what they are going for around here. Supercrews still running about 30k

Anyone notice that FX4's are listing over 40k now? Insane.....

Don't pay more than 17500. They need to sell it a lot worse than you need it.

I paid (well... traded for..but that is about what he was asking) $12,000 for a 05 Super Crew XLT 2X4 5.4L 3.73LS with Towing package with 80K on it. Higher miles than your looking at but it kind of depends on condition. A well maintained highway cruiser beats a poorly maintained short mileager any day... but... that gives you and idea. Did this about a month ago.
