PATS & Harley Key

Just purchased an 06 KR. Only came with 1 key. I had a spare uncut Harley key that I bought 2-3 years back for an 04 F150 that I never bothered to get cut/programed...

Fast forward to yesterday...

Went to the Ford dealer.. Cut they key, but said it wouldnt program (different model or something). So I bought a new key from them.

So now I have 2 working keys and 1 non working Harley key.

Should I try the instructions in the manual to program the Harley key myself? Will this hurt anything? The lady said not to put the key in the ignition as it will FUBAR my other keys... (tried it, it didnt).

Thanks

Chris

I don't see how it can hurt anything...I'd try it. I followed those same instructions to program my Fusion key. I am confused as to why the dealer was unable to do it, so maybe there is an incompatibility there. But unless someone has a reason as to why NOT to try it, I would give it a shot.
Good luck!

Key from a 00-04 (old body) or a 04+ (new body)?

If 04+, that Dealer was full of ****. The Harley is exactly like every other F150.

They probably wanted to sell you a key and make alot of money off of you.

Now, a 00-04 model, I can see their point

Far as I know for an 04-08. I ordered the key over 2 years ago though... the key does open all the doors a fits/turns the ignition.

Chris

p.s. They didnt charge me anymore than the original quote, but made me buy a key... wanted $39, but the parts manager gives me all parts at a discount ($25).

they're full of it

Ford uses the same keys in alot of their vehicles

Were you aware you can use the Fusion, Focus, Milan, Freestyle, Expedition, Econoline, F250 keys...and they are interchangeable

You can even use the key/fob combo from the list above and it will work fine
