Clicking noise

I have an 05 F-150 and after it has warmed up it starts to make a clicking noise at idle it almost sounds like it has a diesel engine. then when it starts to accelerate it gets faster but quiets down. i was wondering if anyone has had this problem or knows what it could be and how to fix it? thanks!

Are you still having the problem. I'm almost positive its the Cam Phaser.

sounds like an exhaust leak IMO. The cam phasers seem to only occur at idle, and disappear during other conditions

have someone rev the motor to about 2-3,000 rpm while you hold your hand by each exhaust bank. and while you are in there, look for black soot areas. I suggest you concentrate by cylinder #7 (passenger side rear). it has a history of issues on these trucks with the bolt breaking

Didn this End up working for you? Was it the exhaust leak?
