Slow Gas Gauge?

I don't know if I'm just now noticing but today I filled my truck up, and the gas gauge just stopped at 3/4. I took off down the highway, and about 8 miles late it finally had made its way to reading full. I have never noticed it have problems like that before. Is that normal for these things, and I have just never noticed?

Ive noticed mine does it if I go from empty to real full. It will say it only has like a 1/4 tank. Then as I drive it slowly starts getting more full. I dont know if it is because there is so much gas the guage cant read properly or if its stuck or what, lol. Is it a digital meter in the tank or a float?

If your key is in the ignition while filling or in the acc position I have noticed it will do that. But without the key in at all mine always goes straight to past full.

Its because of gas with a high sulfur content. If it happens every time, try a different brand and it should go away. I've contacted Ford over this and they say its "normal".

Hm, no I never leave my truck running when i gas up. I do always leave the key in, but turned off. I am using Huck's gas. Maybe I should try something different. I have always had good luck with it but as of lately it seems like I have been getting terrible gas millage. Maybe I'm just driving more than I realize. I am afraid to, but next fill up I'm actually gonna check the gas millage.

Hey watson, I don't know about the sulphur thing, maybe true, but removing the key does work. My old 05 did it, my 07 does, my wifes 08 fusion, her old 05 explorer, her 03 escape and the old 00 focus. Just shutting off the truck is not enough, you actually have to phyically remove the key from the ignition switch.
