Headlamp switch on 2004 F150

I have a 2004 F150 with the Lariat package. How do I remove the headlamp switch?

The headlight warning beeps when the door opens no matter what position the switch is in. I can sometimes wiggle it and get it to stop beeping momentarily, but it always starts again without my touching the switch. In addition, the headlights don't work in the on position. The parking lights are on and I can turn on the driving lights, but the headlights aren't on. I've sometimes been able to wiggle the switch and make them come on, but lately I can't even do that.

Fortunately, the auto position will turn on the headlights when it's dark, but if I want lights in the day time my only option is the driving lights.

So I assume it's a bad switch, but I can't find anything anywhere on the web that tells me how to remove the switch for that particular year.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. The switch is over $150, so I don't want to add insult to injury by paying the dealer 100 bucks for three minutes with a screwdriver.

Removing the switch isn't hard at all. Just get a dash tool or a thin piece of plastic and just pop it off. It should come completely out and when I say that I mean the whole unit will come out. I have taken mine off before and thats what I did. However, as for the beeping goes, that could be wires touching each other or a short. Hope this helps.

Thanks

Thanks much. I'll try that. It seemed the most logical thing, but I didn't want to break it trying if there happened to be some trick I didn't know about.
