Please Help Me Fix My Truck. Please?

OK, So I have been living with these issues for some time, and I cant take it anymore.

My truck sounds like a diesel. its not. People ask me if it is sometimes.

Upon startup, I hear a series of click clacks, like gears or something that need oil. I dont know how to describe much better, maybe a video is in order...

Under minimal load, at low speed, I can get the truck to make a clacking noise continuously. The dealer said they didnt know what it is and to just let it break if somethings is breaking. This is unacceptable.

Idle is *slightly* rough. I have pulled the power to the #2 spark plug and that doesnt seem to be the problem, but can I test another way?

Im at the end of my rope. I want this fixed, and my truck has an extended warranty (not from Ford as I learn later) so I want to get this fixed. I hate this and I hate that the truck runs like *** and I hate that I cant get any help. Last time I posted on here some jerk said the dealer is right and I was basically hearing things.

Please? Someone out there has to have dealt with this and can recognize some of this I hope...

My guess is cam phaser. Many f150 owners have this problem, including myself. Every time I go through a drive through it sounds like I'm sitting in a diesel. I have taken it into my local dealer told them what I thought the problem was, and they tell me there is nothing wrong with it. Anyways if you want to read up more on it here you go.

If that doesn't work just type in "cam phaser" in the search without the quotations. Hopefully this helps.

You could also be hearing the injectors, which tend to be noisy on these trucks.

Yeah, at one point I remember thinking that the injectors were loud, but it seemed normal compared to friends trucks. This noise is more recent and much louder. Under heavier load all is well, but creepin around it sounds like there are freakin rocks in the cylinders. I cant stand driving around like this. Im not oblivious to noises on my car like some people and being told this is normal sucks.

Rattle on start up is a good sign of a bad cam phaser. The Diesel sound is pretty normal for these trucks.....everyone I looked at before I bought mine did it.

I have the same noise in my 05. and I have had it at the dealer around 10 times. I am having the same luck you are at this point. My truck sounds like its going to fall apart whenever i tow something. I'm taking it in tomorrow with a trailer on it so they can hear it for themselves. They relpaced one cam phaser when i bought it. this sounds worse than ever. I also hear all the noises my truck makes and cant stand it. I'll let you know what I find out. But in the mean time...good luck!

So I talked to ford after they looked at my truck for the 11th time... apparently the noise was bad or loud enough this time cause they "think" they found the cuprit. The baffeling in the right catalytic converter fell apart. new converter-$700.00. But they covered it under an emissions warranty. Something about it not being dented or destroyed from the outside. So FREEBIE!... have it checked out on yours, I know it sounds retarded but it is worth checking!

I WIN!

So after dropping the truck off last month, I am told its "normal" again. I asked what they think normal means all my friends with the same truck dont have this issue...

Anyways, after contacting some people I knew at the dealership, the service department essentially would do whatever it took to make me go away. After 4+ trips for this issue, I got the repair done.

Guess what! Its FIXED. The noise was the cam phasers, and the video provided here was a big help. I sent it to the service department as they were insisting the phasers would be very, very loud and mine was within spec. Well, this video shoed this is not the case and I think it might have really been a help in educating the guys down at the dealership... Since that is apparently my job eh?

Anyhow, thanks again and I'm PUMPED!!!!!
