Truck Turns On By Itself?

I have a viper alarm with a remote start and last night it started turning on by itself. It did it every few hours and im worried that while im at work it wil run the tank dry. Anyone have a clue as to why this is happening?or how to fix it?

Vipers have a times start program that will start the truck every couple of hours. You may have activated it.

How old is the unit? Some of the newer DEI alarms are just crappy. I had to remove a clifford from my truck because of a similar problem.

A while back I had a CodeAlarm Gold system installed on my Escape from Ford. And the thing would turn itself on every once a while out of the blue. Contacted the dealer about it, and they didn't have an answer. So one day it started and I came out of class at the time, and it was running. Who knows how long it was running, but the electric cooling fans were roaring.

I had them remove it... and the sad part is that they didn't even give me my money back. I wound up throwing the $400 thing away in the trash.

I hate remote car starters.

I have had a remote start alarm system on almost every vehicle that I have ever owned and aside from the clifford, never had a problem. Overall, I wouldn't say that they are that bad.

I had a remote start in my Dodge and it began starting it self about a year into. That wasn't too bad, when is started attempting to start itself while it was running, often times while I was driving is when I got worried. I ended up taking it out. I haven't trusted it since then.

The Viper has a time start like stated above and it starts every 4 hrs. If you dont have the book bring it back to the installer he will deactivate it in 30 seconds.

My 04 Navi used to do this......but only when I double clicked the door lock button on the remote. Never figured it out but once I stopped double clicking, it never happened again
