Question Which size driver for these bolts?

Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well. Can someone please help me figure out which driver I need to tighten down these jack mount bolts? It's where I keep my fire extinguisher and it keeps rattling around back there.

Here they are:

Thank you gentlemen,
Anthony

The bolt heads you have pictured are S.A.E. or standard, not metric. Try using a 3/8" 7/16" 1/2" or a 9/16" on them, one of those sizes is bound to fit.

The 1/2" seems to fit, but the bolts won't budge in either direction. Any ideas?

OK, the bolts came out with some elbow grease, but they definitely won't go in any other. I think I'll just put a big nut on it to take up the extra space.

Are those the original bolts that came out of there or did you just use the wrong ones?

Grade 13 1/2" bolts??? Just a little overkill. I'll post pics of my fire extinguisher later. Shoot them with some wd-40 or pb blaster and let them sit a couple minutes. Probably rusted if theyre though your body. Could also get a bigger wrench to give you more torque or "double wrench" it.

I'm pretty sure they're the original bolts, unless the previous owner got bored.

I believe the bolts in mine were 10 mm as I just removed them 2 days ago. Also mine were black so there is a good chance they are not the original bolts FYI.

those are definatly not original and im betting the threads are messed up because they were replaced with SAE instead of metric.

Sounds like they were bored over there. Those definitely don't look like original bolts. Looks like the used bolts that are not thread cut all the way. That's why you can't tighten them far enough to stop the rattle.

By the way, when you ask for help and instead get made fun of, do what Condi Rice said you do with ignorant people- ignore 'em! She was right ya know! There's no shortage of 'em to ignore!

1st4X4- Grade 13? Maybe I missed something. They look like grade 8 to me. Bolt size would be 5/16 with 1/2 head and as someone said they are American, not Metric, probably the reason they are buggered.

They are grade 8, I was taught you add two to the number of marks on the bolt head and thats your grade, if there is no marks, then it is ungraded.

3 marks +2 = grade 5
6 marks +2 = grade 8

What more can you expect, when you hang around places like that!

Glad you got some help here.
