don't waste your time or money on internals
the 4.6 and 5.4 motors just don't respond to stuff like Cams, lifters, etc.

you can drop $2,000 on a set of cams...and only gain 20-30 HP

the only real way to get power out of these motors is Forced Induction. I had the RoushCharger on my 06...absolutely loved it.

alternatively, you can run Nitrous...but...I personally wouldn't

RoushCharger:
$2,450 got me +112 HP...it was a huge kick in the butt for the truck
$4,300 will get you +145 HP

plus it looks pretty damn cool with that blower snout sticking out like that
Saleen Supercharger:
also looks pretty cool...I'm currently trying to nail one down for my Expedition...but Saleen is having CARB certification issues, and won't sell them right now...stupid California
Magnacharger:
more expensive...but it looks to be the best in terms of power gains and overall setup

You could do a full exhaust with high flow cats and long tube headers, cold air intake, custom tunes, gears, and a BBK throttle body. That will improve it quite a lot.

In a way, tylus is right. The only internal mods you can do to 3v 5.4 is cams and heads, they are overhead cam motors so they have no pushrods or lifters or rocker arms. Extermal mods include cold air intake, headers, exhaust, e-fans, programmer, and 80 mm BBK throttle body. Even if you put on every external mod and heads and cams you will only be knocking on the door of 325 rwhp MAYBE, not to mention it will cost you big bucks, you're looking at 4 large just for heads and cams not including installation.

are you looking to gain more low end? if so, go with the $2500 RoushCharger, you said it's lifted so gear the hell out of it, and a high perf. differential. looking at $3500ish and it'll be good to smash you back in your seat
