Angry Reverse Sensing System (RSS)

Ok, so my pickup has a reverse sensing system in it. I like the feature sometimes, but when i'm backing up to a trailer it is VERY annoying. I have noticed that some pickups come factory with a switch to turn this off?! Mine didnt have that, soo what are my options? Can I make one of those cool switches that one guy posted on here that you get at autozone, and wire that up to switch it off? I'm just really wanting to get something figured out about this before it drives me crazy!! Thanks

I just popped off the bezel around the radio and where the switch should be there is a plug pushed into a plug holder if you will that is not connected to anything. It has four or five wires all different colors. Can I put any of these wires into a switch so that i can turn it on or off??

Anyone? The switches i'm talking about are the ones that one guy installed to get a factory look switch for his offroad lights and amp. I just want to know if anyone has taken that plug that is in the holder beside the cigarette lighter and incorporated it into one of those.

If your system was factory installed there has to be an override. My override button is just below the A/C controls and has a letter P and a triangle on it. In my '03 Expedition, the sensor could be turned off in the message center. The connector in my '08 Lariat is gray in color for the override button. There is a green connector plugged into the back of the bezel that has no switch and I believe it is for traction control.

Just find the right wire, where it is located, and wire in your own switch. Lord knows you'll need it when it is raining or you're in a hurry and you dont feel like taking your truck apart or getting out.

Well it doesn't have a switch, but it does have the system. It just gets very annoying when backing up to a trailer, which I do quite often.

Look at part # 13, you could order it from your Ford Dealer.

Look under your truck, you should see a quick disconnect on the left bumper mount bar if the system is factory. I have never seen a factory installed park aid system without an override switch. I would not be spending money on an override switch if it is aftermarket. Like others said put an on off toggle switch on the power wire to the aftermarket system
